Oatmeal is a favorite of mine.
Old fashion rolled oats are my choice right now, but I equally like steel cut oats and groats. I don't mind the extra cooking time but the measuring and assembling is a hassle especially when I can't see straight first thing in the morning. So after finding the wide mouth pint canning jars in an Orlando, FL Walmart (the ONLY cse in the store) and carefully packing all twelve in my carry on, I had fun filling several for future breakfasts.
a pinch of salt
a spoonful of brown sugar.
In the morning I just bring the water to a boil,
dump the jar contents in,
give it a stir or two,
turn off the heat
and let it sit for 15 minutes.
I've been topping it with homemade yogurt.
